Approaching a contract beverage manufacturer is a major milestone for any beverage entrepreneur. The difference between receiving a vague quotation and an actionable, costed production timeline comes down to the clarity of your technical manufacturing brief.
The Essential Technical Checklist
To evaluate feasibility and provide accurate per-unit pricing, our engineering and R&D team reviews five core pillars:
1. Liquid Formulation Status
Is your recipe benchtop-tested in a food laboratory, or is it currently a kitchen concept? A production-ready brief specifies:
- Target Brix (sugar/solids content) and pH levels.
- Carbonation volume (e.g. 2.4 to 3.8 volumes of CO2) or still/nitrogen-dosed.
- Active functional ingredients, botanicals, extracts, or vitamin premixes.
- Preservation preference: tunnel pasteurisation, hot filling, or chemical preservatives (potassium sorbate/sodium benzoate).
2. Can Format & End Specification
Aluminium cans are defined by diameter, height, and end closure:
- Format: 200 ml Slim, 250 ml Slim, 300 ml Standard, or 330 ml Standard.
- End Type: 200 or 202 diameter CDL or B64 ends, available in silver or matte black with standard or laser-etched tabs.
3. Regulatory and Market Scope
Where will the beverage be distributed? Formulations destined for domestic FSSAI retail differ from those targeted for GCC export or EU market entry in permitted colourings, preservative limits, and label claims.
4. Volume Forecast and Pilot Timelines
A clear projection of initial trial volumes (e.g., our 12,500-unit pilot MOQ) and expected 6-month scale-up helps us reserve line schedule capacity and raw material lead times.
